STEWART HUDSON

I’m Stew Hudson. Thanks for looking me up. I consider myself a part time maker although I spend a good deal of time in my shop. I first became interested in knives as a Boy Scout, and have carried and used knives as a hunter and fisherman since my early teens. My high school and early adult years were spent in Clearwater at a time when Pinellas County offered almost unlimited small game hunting and a sport fishery that is now only a memory. I learned early that a knife is more than a mere tool. A well made knife is a study in symmetry. A pleasure to look at as well as to use. I began putting handles on other people’s blades a number of years ago, but didn’t begin to study knife building in a serious way until I retired from the State of Florida in 2003. I hope I never stop learning as there is still a lot to be learned. I prefer to work with carbon steel and hardwood, and particularly like small fixed blade knives. Although I maintain an inventory and prefer to sell from this inventory, I will, on occasion, accept orders for knives yet to be made.
